Dr. Gary G. Ghahremani is an Iranian-American radiologist specializing in diagnostic and gastrointestinal imaging with over 40 years experience as Professor of Radiology. His work has been cited in over 5000 medical papers.[1]

Early life and education[edit]

Gary Ghahremani Ghajar was born in Tehran, Iran. He graduated from Alborz College in 1958 and received his M.D. degree cum laude in 1965 from the University of Freiburg in Germany. He immigrated to the US in 1966 and has lived there ever since. Following completion of the radiology residency program at the University of Chicago Hospitals, he joined the faculty of that institution and subsequently served for 3 years as Associate Professor and Chief of Gastrointestinal Radiology Section at the Medical College of Virginia. He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR).

Career[edit]

From July 1976 until his retirement in June 2000, Dr. Ghahremani was Professor and Chairman, Department of Diagnostic Radiology [2]at Evanston Hospital-Northwestern University Medical Center in Evanston, Illinois. He continues to remain a Professor Emeritus at Northwestern University to this date. In 2000, when he relocated to California, he became a Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of California Medical Center in San Diego.

Dr. Ghahremani has published over 150 scientific articles[3], edited several books, authored the book Iatrogenic Gastrointestinal Complications, written multiple chapters in 29 medical textbooks, and presented 251 papers and exhibits at medical conventions in both the United States and abroad. He has been Co-Editor-in-Chief of two subspecialty journals, the Gastrointestinal Radiology (1975-92) and Abdominal Imaging (1992-96), continuing as an Editorial Board Member of the latter publication until 2014.

Personal life[edit]

Dr. Ghahremani lives in San Diego, CA with his wife, award-winning author[6] Zohreh Ghahremani. He has three children: marketing strategist Lilly Ghahremani, illustrator Susie Ghahremani, and producer Cyrus Ghahremani.
